Will opening EPS files ever be fixed in any of Affinity's profducts?

Recommended Posts

This EPS opeing bug/issue keeps coming up time and time again for graphic artists like myself. I finally made a video on Youtube today to help others around this problem. THE PROBELM IS: Opening EPS files either produces a white screen or a split artboard left in fragments that cannot be reassembled.

I guess my second question is why do I have to open EPS in another program and save as PDF only to open the PDF in Affinity products for it to work? I love your products Affinity but EPS files have been around since I was a teenager! This is just bass ackwards!

This will be specific to the EPS files you are importing, they main contain unsupported properties or certain applications export false EPS files - such as Adobe Illustrator, where the app actually exports an .Ai file, and places this within an EPS 'wrapper'.

As the .Ai file format is proprietary, Affinity apps are unable to read these files correctly and this can only be resolved by Adobe providing documentation for the .Ai file format, such that they can be imported/converted in Affinity - like they have done for PDF.

If you have sample files you'd like to provide, I can confirm the specific reason you are seeing this with your document, but as above there are certain reasons that are simply out of Affinitys control.
