Windows zoom and panning

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I'm trying Affinity for the first time and I'm trying to configure the app as much similar to my Photoshop settings.

I prefer to have separate windows for every image, but I can't find a way to hide the background black panel (I like to see my desktop while working, as sometimes I need other images or documents. Is it possible?

Also, I just discovered I need to use V to move or simple transform an image. And then the perspective one for editing it in more complex ways. A bit complicated but ok. But I'm used to CMD-T. Is there a way to add a shortcut for that?

Lastly, I'm getting crazy with windows content. It seems I can scroll way over the image, and I really don't like it. Is there a way to limit the scrolling to image limits only?

Thanks

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

No. It was possible in V1 on Mac, I think, but Separated Mode (which allowed it) was removed in V2. It's never been possible in the Windows versions.

Sorry. I don't fully understand what you're asking.

No.

Thank you for your help, Walt.

(sorry, I'm new and I still have to understand how to properly quote part of the original message).

About background panel... Arghh... Sometimes I need to have some image (or other kinds of document) reference, and in photoshop I keep it next to my working window. Affinity, when active, totally covers my desktop, so any other window will go behind. 😕

Sorry for the complicate question about transform. I wondered if it was possible to assign a "COMMAND-T" shortcut to activate the transform mode. Because most of the time I press it and I get the text panel. It's like 15+ years I'm used to it, so it's very hard to forget that muscle memory.

About the panning... dang! this is very irritating for me. I'm used to quick scroll to reach the end of the image, but this way I surpass it and go way over. :D

Anyway many thanks, Walt. Maybe Affinity Photo is not for me, at least in the current version. I hope there will be soon an update to make it even closer to Photoshop behavior, because it's very hard (for me) to try to switch from one to the other. :)

Have a nice day.

Select the text, and your browser should give you a "quote text" button.

If you can open it in the Affinity app, and Float the window, you can keep it available.

You can change the Shortcuts, in the app Settings. Thus may help if the function you want has a Shortcut available.

You're welcome. Mimicking Photoshop is not a design goal for Serif, as far as I know. Affinity apps are different from PS in many ways, and sometimes intentionally.
