How to select all sublayers to do an action

Recommended Posts

Is there a way to select all sublayers to a layer to do an action, such as change stroke width?

In AD 2.1 Mac, I want to select a layer (or several layers at the same layer) but also select all sublayers, so that when I do something like change a stroke color or width, the change would apply to the objects in all the layers and sublayers. Instead, I'm finding that if I select a layer, say, and change it's stroke, there's no option that I can see to affect all sublayers.

Using the Select > Select Object menu doesn't offer much help.

Also, isn't it possible to drag-select layers in the layers panel? I thought I saw that as an option somewhere.

Thanks!

I’m pretty sure that you cannot select a layer and its child layer at the same time.
I think there's a technical reason for this which doesn’t come to mind at the moment.

There is a good reason for that; you might not want the child layers to have the same formatting applied as the parent layer.
As for not currently having an option to allow it, that’s probably something to do with what I said above.

I can’t remember being able to drag-select layers in the Layers Panel but I’m not fully up-to-date with the latest V2 functionalities.
If you can find out where you saw that then I’d be interested to know.
