New here. Photoshop refugee.

Have managed to figure out resizing canvas, saving to higher resolution and cropping of an image of a photo of a fine-art watercolor.

Now, I simply want to increase the color saturation.

I found this tool ( and instructions as shown below), have tried unlocking, etc., but the slider does not engage/allow me to slide it:

  • Saturation Shift—controls the intensity of the colours in the image. Drag the slider to the left to decrease colour intensity, drag to the right to increase it.

Do I need to save in a special way in order to use the Saturation Shift tool?

I know I'm missing something simple (I hope).

What do I need to open, click, talk sweet to... to perform a simple saturation adjustment?

Thanks. 9:10 PM CST USA

Hi Lecira,

I assume, the adjustment layer effects the wrong layer...

Activate the layer (not the mask or something) you want to effect.

Then click on "adjustment layers" - "HSL".

You can shift the HSL-slider to effect.

If you have several layers and you want only to effect one layer, drag the HSL-layer onto that layer.

I hope, that is the solution.

Also, one very easy way to emphasis the colours is to make a copy layer and change the blendmode to multiply (alter the opacity may be necesairy) or overlay.
