Hi All!

I'm sort of new to this but I've got a page where I want to export to PDF, and there is a "background stain" object on the page which is colour (light brown) and also partially transparent.

When I export to PDF the partially transparent brown object turns grey, instead of staying brown.

Any ideas on how to possibly fix this greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Steve

Hi @Steve Grodz and welcome to the forums...

  1. What is the colour format of your document, CMYK or RGB?
  2. Which PDF settings are you using to export your file?
  3. Are you able to upload the page in question in whichever app you're using so we can take a look?

Hi Hangman

1. it's CMYK.

2. PDF settings PDF 1.7 Acrobat 8

3. Not sure I can upload it, possibly. I was kind of hoping this was a common problem with a known fix but perhaps not!

Thanks for your response in any case!

Hi Steve,

Is the illustration itself CMYK or an RGB file? It looks to me as though there is possibly an element of colour conversion going on. If the Illustration is an RGB file, as a test, place it in an RGB document and export to pdf in RGB to see if you see the same issue.

If you don't and the illustration is RGB try converting it to CMYK first making any colour adjustments so the light brown background stain still looks correct, then add it to your CMYK document and export it as a CMYK PDF 1.7 Acrobat 8 file and see if that fixes the problem.

I tried the above Hangman but ultimately fixed it by rasterizing the layer with the stain (it had a colour adjustment), then when exporting to PDF using the "rasterize everything" option.

Thank you very much for your thoughts and taking the time to respond, I greatly appreciate it!
