I have an image I prepared in Photoshop, which is very rich in blue. When I insert it into a page within Publisher the blues look very different; they are faded purple. Other images shot with the same camera, and saved in the same way, appear unaffected.

The colour settings under Preferences (in Publisher) seem to be the same as those I saved the image as. I saved the image multiple times using different profiles, and different colour modes, yet the problem persists.

Please could you tell me the best way to save the image in question in order to preserve the colours - so it looks the same in Publisher as it does in Photoshop?

I have attached a sample image showing the photo as it appears in Photoshop (on the right), and a screenshot of how it appears in Publisher (on the left).

Thanks.

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

The color settings in Preferences may not be the relevant ones. What are the color settings of (a) the Publisher document and (b) the image you're inserting into it?

Also, what document format (PSD, JPG, etc.) is the document you're inserting, and how are you inserting it?

Thank you for your reply.

I seem to have found the problem. I didn't realise the document colour setting is a separate control to the colour settings under Preferences. I changed it from CMYK to RBE, and the problem was resolved. However, it did affect one or two other images in the document, so I'll need to look deeper into it, and experiment with settings.

I am new to publishing, and this does raise a concern: I am told that a book (containing photos) should be produced as a CMYK document for printing purposes, yet this doesn't seem possible on account of the issue described herein. Is it the case that as long as images look good in the Publisher document (including resolution, as I was told I should adjust the size and resolution of photos individually prior to inserting them into Publisher pages) then the final printed product should be good?
