Group disappeared and can’t get it to come back

Hello, 

i grouped some objects and this happened. I cannot get them to appear again. The art board it blank. I’ve tried restarting my iPad, closing affinity and reopening the file, toggling on and off the visibility. How can I fix this so I don’t have to start over on the design?

Hi @BlackCoyoteDesigns welcome to the forums,

To clarify, do you mean the contents of the group and/or subgroups in your screenshot have disappeared? Your screenshot appears to show a group with two empty subgroups and a rectangle which has it's visibility disabled. Have you checked in your history panel to see if you can roll back to a point at which the contents of the group/artboard are present in case they were unintentionally deleted?

thank you for replying. Yes, the contents of the group had disappeared. I went to the history and found my missing group, but how do I get back to this point? When I tap the top one that says “Group”, the app closes.

If you tap on an entry in the panel will take your document back to that point in the doc history so that you can continue from there, or alternatively you can use the slider at the bottom to the left to go back through the history step by step.

It’s strange, when I get back to that point in history, the app closes or crashes. Every time.

Somethings definitely gone wrong in the file if it's crashing when your reverting to that point in the history, could you save your file (Make sure to check 'Save History') and then send me a copy of the file? I can provide a private upload link if needed.

Thanks for sending it over, unfortunately it's no better on desktop or in the latest beta release, going further back in the history than the 'Move' Step highlighted below immediately causes an app crash, all events prior to this point will also cause an app crash. It's difficult for me to say specifically why, but i've now logged the file with the developers for further investigation, although I can't guarantee that the group contents can be restored.

That is strange. Thank you very much for looking into it. I don’t know everything about Affinity, most of what I do on it is winging it lol. If it can’t be restored, it shouldn’t be too hard for me to recreate.

Hello, sorry I just saw this , but no we didn’t get it figured out. I just had to start working on it again from a past point. Sorry I’m no help.
