Hi there, I am new to this software and had just purchased a license to get started after having success with the trial version. However, after my payment was processed I seem to be unable to use the application as if the payment had not gone through. I was reading through some of the threads on this forum reporting similar issues but am still confused with where exactly i can set up an affinity ID and link it to the store to identify my purchase. I would really appreciate some help in terms of the exact steps I should take to can resolve this as I feel like I just lost £70 on this purchase. Many Thanks.

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

First, I think you need to figure out if the payment actually worked. If you downloaded the application from the Mac App Store, and then purchased via an in-app purchase, you should be able to find a record of that in your Apple Account. If you open the App Store, and click on your Account, and look in the list of Purchased programs, do you see the application there? (And which application did you purchase?)

If you find the application is purchased, then I suggest following the steps in this FAQ article:
