DavidHarrison Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 Hello, I have successfully generated a standard table of contents by using a CHAPTER HEADING text style. It correctly generates the pages number. Following that table, I want to create a Table of Figures. I have added a small text frame underneath each image containing the caption text and use a text style of Caption. When I generate the Table of Figures it does list the captions, but there no corresponding page numbers!!! I tried the following: 1) Added the Caption text style to the Table of Contents TOC where the page numbers are correctly shown for CHAPTER HEADINGS - still no page numbers for Captions. 2) Deleted the Table of Figures and recreated it from scratch - still no page numbers for Captions. 3) Copied and pasted the working Table of Contents to a new page, renamed it Table of Figures and added Caption text style - still no page numbers for Captions. I am getting very frustrated with this which should be a straightforward task. Why does AP make it so hard? Can anyone help me please? Quote

It is the little 'hamburger' menu to the right of the Style name. DavidHarrison Posted March 10, 2023 Author Posted March 10, 2023 Bruce, thank you very much. That worked a treat! I have to wonder, though, why is this optional? Why would anyone want to generate a table of contents and not show the page numbers? I think at least that checkbox option to show page numbers should be defaulted to on, not off. Quote

I may have three section names that I want included in the ToC yet have the ToC would look like Chapter 6 ....................... 114 Section 2 Chapter 7 ....................... 129 instead of Chapter 6 ....................... 114 Section 2 129 Chapter 7 ....................... 129 And yes I agree that Page numbers on by default would be best and expected.
