Dennis Friedhoff Posted March 6, 2023 Posted March 6, 2023 How can I export my work into an pdf that does not convert my lettering from 100% black into all the colors of cmyk? Please advise. Open Brief 2023 - 1.pdf Quote
Hangman Posted March 6, 2023 Posted March 6, 2023 Hi @Dennis Friedhoff and welcome to the forums... This is because you have a mis-match between your source and export ICC Profiles, your document uses U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) V2 and your exported document uses Coated FOGRA39 (ISO 12647-2:2004) resulting in your K: 100 being converted into C:71 M:67 Y:60 K:80. Dennis Friedhoff Posted March 6, 2023 Author Posted March 6, 2023 Thank for your prompt reply. I changed my settings so I thought but the printer is still not happy. Just to be sure: I chose Coated FOGRA 39 in my documents settings and in my export settings, but it still did not work. How do I check that all my settings work together? Quote
Hangman Posted March 6, 2023 Posted March 6, 2023 Hi Dennis, In an ideal world it would be sensible to create your document using Text Styles, creating separate styles for body copy, main headings, sub headings, page numbers and so on. If you then assign a global colours to these text styles it would give you much more flexibility should you need to change anything in your document as you can simply edit the global colour for the relevant text style which will then update your entire document in one go. As it stands there are currently no text styles used in you document and likewise no text flow (links between text frames so the text flows between frames) so it would either be a case of setting some text styles up and applying them throughout your document or because you don't have text flow set, it's likely to be easier to go through your document manually page by page, selecting the black text on each page and applying a global black to each element which shouldn't be too onerous as the document is reasonably short in length. Setting text flow at this stage, I suspect, is likely to involve a reasonable amount of reworking because your text flow would probably change the text layout throughout your document and require you to adjust it accordingly to match your current layout... Assuming your printer has requested the document to use FOGRA39 then with the profile of your Publisher document set as FOGRA39 if you create a global black swatch using K100 applying it to all the relevant text throughout your file taking care not to miss anything should result in 100% Black text but before doing any of that, the very first and most important thing to do is confirm with your printing company how they require you to provide your pdf document to ensure you provide it exactly as they require... they will have their own specific settings and colour profile setup which you will need to adhere to otherwise you will encounter the same issue...
