jweitzel Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 Hello out there, I do not find the solution tipp for a rather fundamental problem: To set up "standard values and settings" for at least some tools, for text, paragraph styles etc., so that every *new* document starts with these settings and that during work on a layout the tools fall back to a default setup.Examples: In every new document with AFPub text paragraphs do have "Arial" and a leading of 12 pt. – I never did want that and will never want to have it. If I see it right, I can't change that, because if there is new, empty document, changing that "no style" paragraph style will only work for that document – and with no document open (like former in InDesign) there are not any text styles so that I can't arrange that. What I want: To setup the "no style" character- und pragraph styles/the basic textstyles to my usual body text styles, so that every *new* document will have that basic setup concerning text. This also goes for the tools: The (text and picture) frame tool should have the setup: no frame, no background colour. The pen tool should have "black" as colour and 0,5pt line. And so on, and so on..- At the moment I get crazy from time to time, because the tools adopt settings, which I did some time before at an other frame/text/pragraph. And when I re-choose or re-use a certain tool, it produces a "chaotic" and un-predictable mixture of effects. Example: I assigned to a certain frame 30% transpareny for any purpose. Then I do other work on a text frame - but If I use the frame tool again in order to crate a NEW frame – it gets 30% transparency and brownish colour and a 2 pt frame because I ... Under that circumstances the behavior of the tools is un-predictable, and the half of the time I have to "repair" that chaotic behaviour. Nevertheless there a situations, where I have to create 20 similar frames with same colour and a border... But that is an other theme (styles...) Thanks for reading Johannes Quote

And so on, and so on..- To set the default attributes/styles for new documents: Create a new document Choose the Text tool and set the attributes the way you want - for example, choose Helvetica 10/11.5 if you want Helvetica 10 pt on 11.5 pt leading. Or choose a style such as Body. Draw a text frame - set the background colour to whatever you want Draw a shape - set the stroke and fill to whatever you want (note, this will apply to all shapes including those drawn with the Pen tool) Choose Edit > Defaults > Save Quit Publisher - all new documents will be created with whatever attributes or styles you chose To save custom text styles as the default for new documents: Create a new document or open an existing one Customize the text styles to the set you want for new documents Choose Save Styles as Default from the Text Style panel's menu Quit Publisher - all new documents will be created with the set of styles you defined 5 hours ago, jweitzel said: At the moment I get crazy from time to time, because the tools adopt settings, which I did some time before at an other frame/text/pragraph. But if at some point you want to create the next object with the default attributes, deselect any selected objects first and then choose Edit > Defaults > Revert and all the default attributes will be applied for the next objects you create.
