Hi, I am running Publisher on a Mac. What is the best way to compress a PDF magazine down? I am being asked to have each page be no larger that 300KB. I am having a hard time wrapping my mind around that?

Play with the image compression settings in the Advanced section of the PDF export panel:

  • The image downsampling resolution
  • The JPEG compression

For example, if you publish a PDF to be viewed online (not printing it on a commercial press), try lowering the resolution to 150 DPI and the JPEG compression to 80 and see how big the resulting PDF is. You can go lower with those values, and the PDF file will be even smaller, but the images will degrade more.
