Cannot export a .PDF with no background

Recommended Posts

Hi! I'm trying to export a design to cut some shapes on white vinyl, so it has to be in .pdf with no background. In illustrator no problem, but with the V2 I am trying all the options and it creates a white background when I export to .pdf. In .png it works ok. The document is set with transparent background. I've tried all the .pdf export options, so I am aware of the incompatibilities PDF 1.4 (and previous versions). I've read a couple of topics about this but not a solution, and no, the problem is not the pdf viewer I am using (I am using the preview in MacOs and works fine showing the transparent background on the .png and .pdf created in other softwares).

In vinyl cutting, I have only used SVGs so I can't speak to the use of PDF files for this. One thought I had though is when I first started using Affinity Designer and wanted PNG files with a transparent background, I had to set the page to transparent. Click on FILE-DOCUMENT SETUP, Go to the COLOR tab and be sure Transparent Background is checked. I hope this works!

Thanks, I've done this already. It's crucial for making a design with no background. I insist, with the .png there is no issue. I will try with the printers if they accept the .svg.
