tmarsh Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 (edited) I've just upgraded to the universal licence v2, having a weird problem. I've installed all 3 and any one that I open opens version 1. I tried re-installing and it reports that v2 is already installed (so I didn't re-install) and if I open from the option in the installer v2 will open. I've tried to run from file manager in program files but still v1 opens. Previously I only had publisher installed but neither photo or designer will open v2. Edited January 5, 2023 by tmarsh Quote
MikeTO Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 Hi tmarsh and welcome to the forum. You should share whether you're on Mac or Windows and what version. I'm going to guess that you're using Windows and that you're trying to launch v2 from your desktop shortcuts. V2 doesn't install desktop shortcuts so you should try to start Affinity v2 via the Start menu. If this isn't what you're using or doing please share more details so we can help. tmarsh Posted January 7, 2023 Author Posted January 7, 2023 (edited) Thanks for the welcome and yes, Windows 11, 22H2. I've tried starting from the original desktop shortcut, created a new one and from the start menu. In the Affinity folder in program files I can only see Photo and Publisher, Designer is missing. In the start menu there is only Publisher. As far as I can tell the install went OK and as I've said, If I re-run the installer it says already installed and gives me an option to open which runs v2. I suppose I should uninstall v1 and then install v2? Edited January 7, 2023 by tmarsh Quote
weegiegrum Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 I had the same issue. It's a little more complicated to create desktop shortcuts for v2 - try this: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/167826-how-do-i-create-a-desktop-shortcut-for-affinity-v2-apps/ Quote Grahame AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-core 3.6GHz CPU, 32GB RAM, 500GB SSD, 2TB HDD, GeForce RTX4070ti Super OC GPU, 64-Bit Windows 11 Affinity Publisher/ Designer/ Photo 1.10.6.1665 and 2.6.0 "I don't do fruit-based technology."
tmarsh Posted January 8, 2023 Author Posted January 8, 2023 Excellent! That's done the trick. Thanks. weegiegrum 1 Quote
