Snap in node tool

Hello

Using the snap function when working in the node tool, is there a shortcut to turn snap on and off for all options? You can override snap pressing "Alt" (macOS), but it breaks the node handles. Any other way to turn snap temporarily off - fast and easy?

A global snap on/off button would be very handy.

Press the Toolbar button shown in my attached image (same in all Affinity applications) to switch snapping on/off. (In my image it is ON.)

Note: This affects all snapping, not just that in the Node Tool.

Thanks, but the magnet button does not affect node tool snapping. (Unless I am missing something.) Would be great if enable/disable snap would work globally.

Ah, I see what you mean.
Other than switching all of the Node Tool Snapping options OFF (and maybe switching them back ON again later) I think we only have the Alt modifier to help us here.

I’m not sure what you meant by “breaks the node handles” in your original post.
Can you clarify what the problem is?

Hi. When adjusting node handles pressing Alt, they move without restrictions, but Alt modifier breaks them apart. Please, see the attached short video:

Ah, I see, thanks for that.

So the Alt modifier has two functionalities when using the Node Tool, one for when you are moving the nodes and a different one for when you are moving the node handles, and that’s the problem when you want to temporarily ignore the snapping using Alt.

(I don’t usually do much complex ‘node-wrangling’ so this isn’t an area I have much experience in.)

It sounds like your ‘global snap on/off button’ on the Context Toolbar might be a good idea to me.
