tammie1983 Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 I'm new to Affinity software, having only opened Designer for the first time yesterday on my iPad. I'm currently taking a class that was filmed with Designer V1 and I've gotten stuck a few minutes in with regards to the Pencil Tool menu. I've attached three screenshots from the video: when the Pencil Tool icon was pressed, you can see a menu at the bottom. I don't have this menu when I press the Pencil Tool in V2 and I can't seem to find it anywhere. I need to be able to do what she's doing in the video, changing the colours for Stroke and Fill so I'm at a standstill with the class until I can find out where these options have moved to, any ideas? walt.farrell Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. The user interface is significantly different in V2. You should probably read the changes listed in the Help (start in the Introduction, What's New in V2), and watch some of the Serif-provided Tutorial videos. For your specific question: Also: You can have your iPad take a screenshot for you; much better than using your camera. tammie1983 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. tammie1983 Posted December 17, 2022 Author Posted December 17, 2022 Hi Walt, thanks for the lovely welcome And thank you, that's solved my problem. I saw that top toolbar yesterday but couldn't figure out how to change the colours. I've just watched one of the Affinity tutorial videos on YT and found out how to actually select the colour I chose with the pipette dropper. Yes, iPad's do indeed take better screenshots but I'm watching the class on my PC and using Affinity Designer on my iPad. I use Greenshot for taking screenshots on my PC but I couldn't access it when I was watching the class video full-screen and when I pause it at normal size where I could access Greenshot, it goes grey so I had to take them with my iPhone.
