Hello,

I am coming across many issues with Affinity processing on my Mac. Only app running is Affinity Publisher and it stutters, gets slow, and has crashed twice in the past week.

2020, M1 MacBook Pro, 13 in

Affinity Publisher 2

Any ideas? How can I share logs?

Thanks in advance,

Zach

Hi Zach, I'm running Affinity 1 and 2 on my M1 Pro MB Pro, 14 in, without stuttering. I do have "automatically adjust brightness" in System Settings > Displays disabled since that's a known issue, at least with v1. I haven't heard if that's addressed in v2 yet. That issue causes a lot of stuttering so it's worth a try.

Are on you Ventura? I assume you have Metal enabled in Affinity Preferences?

Hey @MikeTO,

Thanks for getting back to me! I haven't had any issues until this past week. Nothing has changed. Simply scrolling around a design makes the app stutter and a few times, crash. I'm on an external monitor and there's no option to turn off automatic brightness. (I never had that issue with V1.)

I AM on Ventura and Metal is enabled. Should I disable that?

Thanks so much!

The "Automatically Adjust Brightness" setting is in macOS System Settings > Displays. If you have that on you should try turning that off first.

If after making that change you are still experiencing the problem then try disabling Metal which would be unfortunate but is worth trying. Affinity Preferences > Performance > Enable Metal. Set that off, restart, then go back into preferences and change the other Metal option to OpenGL.
