Good afternoon...

I am Charlotte A. Clark-Frieson, a business owner-operator, and I had already purchased several of your products, including Affinity Publisher, Designer and Photo for two of my computer systems, and then got the 30-day Free Trials to use on another system.

SO, I am very disturbed today, because YESTERDAY, I completed my purchase of Affinity Photo2. The $40.00 deal.  I was so glad to get this program.  But shortly after installing it, and playing around with it on my laptop, something wierd happened.

My AVG Internet Security program alerted me that it was a security breach of some kind, and it went through some kind of process.  Since that happened I have not been able to get my Affinity Photo2 to run.

I need HELP now. This is very upsetting to me.  I'm attaching a screen shot of the alert I'm getting every time I click on the icon to run the program.

I had the same experience with Designer V2 today. (I bought the V2 Universal license).

I also received a message from my 'Avast' Antivirus. I made an exception so that Designer is not blocked by Avast. After the process, cannot restart the program. I uninstalled Designer and reinstalled it. Now it works again… (Sorry for my bad English…!)

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums, Charlotte. Sorry you're having a problem.

However, it sounds like AVG mistakenly thinks there is a virus or other malware in the Affinity code, and deleted or quarantined the program. This happens sometimes.

It (AVG) should provide some way for you to override its mistake and restore the application.

To be precise, it was by consulting the program's help window (F1) that my antivirus was triggered. And it was after taking it out of quarantine that the program was no longer executable.

Avast must have changed something... Fortunately, the reinstallation allowed me to keep all my assets, so it's not a big deal!

Yes, I, too attempted to make an exception, but the program still does not function.

You can try uninstalling and reinstalling, but if that doesn't work you should talk to AVG Support.

Okay,

Thanks everybody for your assistance.   I think I got it figured out:

This is how I fixed it and got it to work:

1.  Open AVG AntiVirus and go to ☰ Menu ▸ Quarantine.
2.  Click the box next to the relevant file(s) in Quarantine.
3.  Click … More options (three dots), then select an action: (i) Restore: Moves the file to its original location on your PC. ...
4   Close the program.

However, I found out very quickly that this alone does not resolve the issue.  I had to go into my settings and uninstall Affinity Photo2.  Then reinstall.  Luckily I still had my download on my system, from yesterday when I completed my purchase.  After the re-install, I was back up and running!!

I HATE AVG, how it so aggressively attacks certain programs that are PERFECTLY LEGIT!
