JQP Posted October 10, 2022 Posted October 10, 2022 (edited) I've just started using Publisher and one of the things I'd like to do with it is take existing PDFs and alter them to be more useful to me. I've opened a PDF and saved it out as 100 page chunks. I'm very pleased with how well Publisher has handled the import - it's not perfect, but it's very serviceable IMO (in my experience it's hard to find anything that can import PDFs into anything remotely useable in terms of an editable document). One thing I've noticed is that there doesn't seem to be any text flow (I have "show text flow" checked and Publisher isn't showing me any lines between frames) . I think I'll need all the text frames flowing if I'm going to make the changes I want (TLDR version is I want to change it to a web/landscape orientation, as well as clean up the text/fonts, then simplify the overall layout and design) and have the document hold up, so I'm hoping there's a way to do this automagically - basically tell Publisher to just go through the document page by page and flow each text frame to the next in left to right order. thomaso Posted October 11, 2022 Posted October 11, 2022 Hi @JQP, Welcome to the Affinity forums! I am afraid this wouldn't work in APub. Instead opening or placing the PDF (which is a container file format like .afpub) you could place a text document. Depending on your PDF viewer app you can export its text as a (styled) text document, – or just copy all text and paste it in a text frame in APub to be able to use auto text flow & auto page creation. JQP Posted October 11, 2022 Author Posted October 11, 2022 Thank you for the welcome and the response. I'll give that a whirl and see how it goes. (Any recommendations on a good PDF viewer to use for this (other than the paid version of Acrobat) would be welcome). Quote
