Affinity Publisher functionality

Dear forum, 

I'm looking for a typesetting software that along side the common function non-professional software like word or pages can do, but is also able to do things like limiting the characters per line, lines per page and some special asian language layout. Does Affinity Publisher offer such functionality?

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

You can get a 10-day trial of Publisher which would help you answer some of those questions. However, as a start:

• Characters per line: this can be limited, in the sense that you draw a text frame to hold the text, and the frame has a specific width. You can only have as many characters on a line as will fit in that width, based on the font size you've chosen. But if you mean, "can I apply a rule that says only 56 characters per line", then no.
• Lines per page: Again, you create a text frame, and that will limit the number of lines you can have, based on the font size, leading, etc.
• Special Asian language layout: no.
