aaford72
I am new to photo editing and would like to start with keeping a selection within my photo in color while making the rest of the photo black and white. Where do I start? Thanks! Aaron
Staff MEB Posted January 4, 2016 Staff Share Posted January 4, 2016 Hi Aaron, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) Open the image you want to edit, then press the Adjustements icon on the bottom of the Layers panel and select Black and White. By default this will create a Black & White Adjustment layer above your image layer. Set the adjustment settings/conversion to black and white as you wish then with the Adjustment layer still selected change to the Brush Tool. Make sure black is selected in the Colour panel. We will be working on the mask provided by the Adjustment layer itself. Painting with black will hide the adjustment. Painting with white will reveal it. If you need to make the brush size bigger go to the context toolbar right above the work area and change the width (and other options) of the brush there. Those are just the basics. For more learning resources check the Help file and the set of video tutorials listed on this thread. If you have additional questions don't hesitate to post/ask here in the forums.
