So this is a bit of an odd one.

I'm working in a file that I need to be able to create white pixels.  But every time I try to paint a white pixel on a layer, it comes in as an anti-aliased pixel - not quite white, with a slight grey pixel underneath (see image)

There seems to be a couple of contributing factors here:

  • The anti-aliased pixel is on a pixel layer.  Painting on the background layer works as expected.
  • The pixel layer was originally created by a copy-and-paste from a PNG file which contains a 93x1 pixel image.
  • Pasting the content from the PNG file resulted in an anti-aliased layer with all white pixels showing up anti-aliased as below

Brush settings:

  • Width: 1px
  • Opacity: 100%
  • Flow: 100%
  • Hardness: 100%

Layer: Pixel, 100% opacity, Normal blending.

I was really hoping to be able to save an afphoto file for these edits with each custom set of pixels on its own layer.  This would allow me to easily identify which section of pixels is which.  (These represent on/off LEDs in a set of addressable LED rings, so they had to be flattened)

Any thoughts on what might be going on?

If you select the Pixel layer in the Layers panel, and then look in the Transform panel, what are its X and Y pixel positions? Are they integers, or do they have a decimal value.

(Note: you might need to open the Preferences for Photo, and in the User Interface section increase the number of decimal places for pixel units. Try at least 3 (I often use 6), which will display more decimal places and let you see misalignments more easily.)
