Hi I am doing a painting of a baby and the client wants the baby resting on this blanket so the baby sort of sinks into the blanket, so I need to alter the image accordingly. I can add shading in the painting stage but can someone suggest how to alter the image so it looks as though it is dipping in the middle. I presume it is using the warp tool which I’ve played with but not able to get the middle bit right. This is not the baby I’m painting but it shows the way I want to treat the blanket. Also a pic of the blanket.

Any help would be appreciated

The technique you use depends on how realistic you need it to appear.

Here I did no warp just darkened and feathered mask.

So doesnt really look real, the shadows is what largely make it look sunken in, but the geometry of a regular pattern like that will make a warp difficult.

Thanks Affinity Rat, I’ll be able to add the shading when I paint it but it was really help on  how I alter the perspective on the blanket that I was hoping for. I think I’m probably going to have to hand draw it as I’m not having much success with the warp tool

I’m certainly no expert here, but I suspect this is the way to go, using the warp mesh and double clicking to create grid nodes that can then be bent to change the geometry. Note that this was done on desktop version not Ipad, the warp mesh is a filter on the Ipad.

The more nodes on the grid would allow tweaking the image to make it look realistic.
