jdehullu Posted March 4, 2022 Posted March 4, 2022 I'm new to Affinity Publisher and could not find an answer to this question in the forum I started out creating a document with three master pages. I used 'Facing Pages' as the spread for each. For various reasons I later went into the document setup and unclicked 'Facing Pages.' After that the masters and all other pages appeared as single pages. That was OK at the time. Then I went back into the Document setup and checked 'facing pages' again. After that, the publication pages appeared as facing pages (just as they did originally) but the masters remained as single pages, not facing pages. The 3 original masters seem to have been 'split' into 6 single page masters. (Besides that, the 2 single-page masters into which each original master was split both have the same name as the original master from which they were derived.) I'm confused by this development. Have I really messed up my document? Is it OK to switch a document setup back and forth between single page and facing pages? How do I get my master pages back to facing pages? Jim D. PS: I originally unchecked 'facing pages' because I wanted to print a PDF file with single pages for printing. Maybe that was a mistake. I could use some advice. Quote

It is not a great idea to switch back and forth like you did. A great deal of pre-production planning would be needed as well as a good deal of experience. Not to mention an overall very simple design. How to get the Master Pages back... Remake them, then reapply them. 3 minutes ago, jdehullu said: PS: I originally unchecked 'facing pages' because I wanted to print a PDF file with single pages for printing. Maybe that was a mistake. I could use some advice. I use Facing pages for spreads because it is, in my opinion, easier. I export All Pages not All Spreads. Sadly this All Pages choice is not 'sticky' as a choice so we have to remember to choose it each and every [expletive deleted] time we go to export. jdehullu Posted March 4, 2022 Author Posted March 4, 2022 Thank you, Bruce. I don't know a lot about Affinity Publisher, but I do know enough to make lots of backup copies of my work. I have a backup from just a few minutes before I messed around with the 'facing pages' setting. I just did a PDF export using the 'all pages' option. It seems to have worked very nicely. I can see the proper gutter on the odd and even pages. You're a godsend. Maybe you should write a book on Publisher. Jim D. Quote
JulieB Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 I had exacty the same problem having to produce single page PDF file from facing page publication. Changing the document setup to single pages produced lots of problems. The all pages export option was very welcome. Thank you very much Bruce for providing the answer to my problem. Quote
