Hi, I'm running the latest version of Affinity Photo 1.10.4.1198 on my Windows 11 PC with 16 Gb RAM.

I am trying to untick the Hardware Accelerator box in the Preference/Performance tab. After unticking the box it says 'needs a restart', but after a restart the box is again ticked. I've tried Reset User Defaults but this does not help.

I think this must be causing AP to keep crashing because I have the latest beta version with the box unticked and it runs a dream.

Many thanks.

You can try this tool in order to see if the box is checked/unchecked, or look manually after the PerformancePreferences.xml file in order to see what it's contents tells for the ...

<UseHardwareAcceleration>False</UseHardwareAcceleration>

... settings flag inside then.
