Text on iPad doesn’t work for me

When I tri to insert text the keyboard will not show up because of pencil connection. This makes it impossible to insert any text since there is no way to switch to keyboard. As I mainly use Affinity Designer on iPad to create banners and YouTube covers this makes the job impossible. Is there any trick to switch to keyboard? I found that I need an external keyboard to do a decent job but this should be easier. Also if I put the pencil away, close the app and reopen then I have access to keyboard but if I try to double tap or triple tap text to highlight the whole block it will only chose one word, its not possible to select the whole line of text. This makes my workflow impossible on iPad. I love Designer on Mac but this iPad version is really hard to work with. Can anyone give me a hint on how to work with text? Thanks in advance

Turn Scribble off under settings - apple pencil
