Affinity Photo - Rasterize/Scaling Options Per Layer?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Is there any way to set rasterize options per layer in Photo? Say I have a pixel layer that contains a resized image but when it's saved out or merged I want it to rasterize with nearest neighbour scaling rather than whatever it's using as the default, is there any way to do this?

If there is not a way to do this how should I resize a layer using nearest neighbour scaling?

best regards

That is an interesting question, striving a minefield.

To my knowledge, no obvious option exists.

If quality (and resize method) is paramount, i would suggest to keep the pixel art layers as separate documents (can be placed as linked file), and manually resize pixel art for every required target resolution. The idea is to have the pixel art already pre-resized to the correct target solution, so that resamspling wouldn't do any harm no matter what method is used. If you still observe unwanted blurriness, then take it to the next level, having a master file, and placing (linking) exports from both pixel art and regular art into it - to be more precise, the exported versions using the appropriate resample method.

Olivio Sarikas shared an tutorial how to use Artboards ( a Designer concept) in Photo, keeping several sizes of the same layout in one document, and utilize linked documents.
