waterfalls69 Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 I just downloaded the trial version of Affinity photos. The reviews are so good that I thought I would try it out before buying it.I went to edit a few photos today and I found that I could not use the Rectangular Marquee Tool to crop photos to the size I wanted them to be. I can highlight the area I want cropped but there is no tool or setting to do the actual cropping so how do you crop photos using the Rectangular Marquee Tool?Am I just assuming that because you can do this in Photoshop you should be able to do this in Affinity Photo? Is this feature not available because I am using a trial version or because I have El Captain?I tried finding help on this subject in the help section but found nothing that could help me out. I tried using the Noise Reduction feature (denoise) but I could not really tell how well it works because when I saved the photo I could not save it as a jpg so I could compare it to the original photo. I really wish they would let you save photos as a jpg in the trial version so you can do a side by side comparison with the original photo. While I am an experienced Photoshop user, I am somewhat new to Mac having converted earlier this year after more than 15 years as a PC user. Perhaps this is why I am having problems cropping photos. Hopefully someone in this forum can help me out because I really would like to purchase Affinity Photo but with the current problems I am having with the trial version I can not justify purchasing it. Staff MEB Posted November 6, 2015 Staff Posted November 6, 2015 Hi waterfalls69, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) No, currently it's not possible to crop from a selection, you have to use the Crop Tool. You may want add this to the Feature Requests section. We aren't doing things necessarily the same way as Photoshop so you may find some differences in certain things. The trial is exactly the same as the full version. To save the image as jpeg (or any other format other than the native afphoto), you have to use File ▸ Export (or alternatively use the Export Persona). Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
