Needed to add a new page, that was fine.  But for some reason the page number is missing.  On the following page, the next page number is there showing consecutive page numbering but for some reason the page number is missing.  Tried to insert the master page that has the numbering and that didn't work.  I don't know what to do.

what does your Layers panel show? There should be a master Page Layer with the Text for the Page Number.

NEW PROBLEM

Now at end of chapter, and you can see that inserting the page for some reason reversed the columns.  You can see how the wide one should be under the dark blue borders and the narrow column should be in the light blue columns. But I can't move the blocks with the type in them.

So Master G has the Page Number on it? Is that layer with the Page Number visible?

This is a problem that drives me up the wall. You will have to reapply the Master pages to the messed up Pages. This happens when I put in a single page while working on a double page layout.
