Hello everybody.

I'm just here to report that I'm experiencing the exact same issue as this thread.

I've purchased both Photo & Designer and Designer is not affected by this issue.

Photo on the other side is unable to load any file, regardless of file type. I thought this issue arrived with 1.9.2, but downgrading to 1.9.1 did not resolve it.

The only way to quit Photo when it's stuck trying to load any file (regardless if dragging & dropping or opening, and regardless of file type) is to terminate the process.

Hi @Stefan Ka.,

Welcome to the forums and I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble!

Firstly I have 'split' your post into a new forum thread, as the thread you posted in was 3 years old and related to a specific issue with 1.7.3 and colour profiles stopping the app from loading documents.
Please ensure you are 'following' this thread in the top right corner if you wish to be notified of replies -

In regards to the issue you're experiencing, I'd like to start with a few questions.

1. Have you updated your GPU drivers to the latest version? (Many issues with Affinity being unable to open documents/images can be caused by outdated/corrupted GPU drivers)

2. Are you able to create a new, blank document in Affinity Photo?

3. If you navigate to Edit > Preferences > Performance in Affinity Photo, what settings are set here please? (A screenshot of this dialog would be ideal)

Many thanks in advance!

Hi @Dan C,

Thanks for sorting my post out 👍

Your proposition to check my graphics drivers solved my issue.
I'm running on Windows 10 with an Intel UHD 620 graphics adapter.

I'd love to provide more info regarding which driver version was causing issues, but the screenshot I took prior to the update did not capture the correct display adapter ( I have a Citrix Indirect Display Adapter as well).

I can only confirm that version 27.20.100.9466 solved my problem.

Thank you for the support, I hope this may be helpful to other users.
