John-H65
It mystifies me why there's no "custom ratio" dropdown selection in "Rectangular Marquee", in the same way as there is in the "Crop Tool". I frequently need to constrain a selection to a particular aspect ratio when cropping layers.... and it CAN'T BE DONE !! Unless you use Photoshop. Alfred
Welcome to the Serif Affinity Forums, @John-H65. If you use the Rectangle Tool to create a rectangle of a particular width or height, you can use an expression to set the other dimension such that the desired aspect ratio is achieved; e.g. setting the height to 900 px and setting the width to h*16/9 will make the width 1600 px (for a width to height ratio of 16:9). You can then use the ‘Layer to Selection’ command, or Cmd/Ctrl-click on the rectangle layer’s thumbnail in the Layers panel, to create a ‘marching ants’ selection around the edges of the rectangle.
