Ian Stephenson
Hi, A question on the astrophotography stacking option. Is this only intended for deep sky objects using a specialist camera that can produce FITS format files? Or can this somehow be used with standard .NEF (Nikon Raw format) files. If so is it likely to produce a better result than a standard stack or for this type of image is standard stacking the recommended option. Couldn't find anything on line with respect to using Affinity for Milky Way stacking? Thanks. Staff stokerg Posted May 17, 2021 Staff Share Posted May 17, 2021 Hi @Ian Stephenson, This is taken from the help section on Astrophotography: 'Light frames and calibration frames should be RAW or FITS (Flexible Image Transport System) files from a DSLR or astronomy camera, respectively.' So you can use either RAW or FITS for Astro stacking.
