Hi.

I've been working on a project in Affinity Publisher and cannot retrieve made progress in it due to a file corruption error. When I open the document I receive the following message: "The document appears to be corrupted. The document must now be closed."

I work on a windows 10 system. The matter is urgent to me as it is on a deadline. Is it possible to recover the corrupted file? I don't have an idea what could have caused the issue... the project is picture heavy.

Regards, Simon

Hi @szymonn,

Welcome to the Affinity forums and my sincerest apologies for the delayed response here!

We’re sorry to hear that your Affinity document is no longer opening for you and many thanks for providing a copy of this. We’ll take a further look at the file to see if we can recover any of its contents.

We would obviously also like some additional information to see if we can work out the cause of the problem and stop it happening in future. To assist this process, please can you also tell us the following:

1. Which Operating System are you using?
2. Which version of Affinity did the file last get saved in?
3. What drive type was the file last saved to (select more than one if needed)?
Local disk
USB disk/Flash disk
Google Drive folder
OneDrive folder
iCloud folder
Dropbox folder
Network location
Other (please specify)

4. Any other information you think would help us try to find the problem

We suggest that you check to see if you have any backups of the document available in case we’re unable to recover the file. The investigation process can take some time, but we’ll be back in contact with our findings :)

Thank you for your response and reaching out with help. I have worked around my issue by starting the project from scratch and therefore no longer need the file. I'm happy to help if the file could offer a hint to the cause of my issue and by such preventing it from occurring again.

As for the additional information:
I'm using Windows 10 20H2.
The file was worked on and saved in Affinity Publisher 1.9.0 unfortunately I don't have a record of the remaining part of release number as an updated of the program has come out since.
It was saved on local SSD, separate to the SSD which has the system installed on.

I'm glad to hear you have since worked around this issue but please do accept our apologies once more for any inconveniences caused due to this.

Many thanks for the information provided, I will pass this onto our devs, alongside the file so we can investigate this further and hopefully use this to improve the apps file handing in the future :)
