Hi. I'm on Windows 10. I open Affinity, I see the icon in the taskbar, and there is NO way to bring the app to the foreground. It looks open. It's in the task manager. And I can't use it. I uninstalled it. I downloaded the latest version just now. I rebooted. I reinstalled it. I rebooted again. I can't use this thing.

When it starts up, I get the splash screen. Then nothing. It's not an open window. I tried run as admin, same thing. I can't alt tab to it. I can't minimize all other windows and there it is because it's not there.

Has anybody seen this before? Does anybody know what I need to do to use this? It seems to be open but I can't switch to it.

Thanks.

Welcome to the forums @Ptype

Try this:

  • Click the Application logo in the Task Bar;
  • Press Alt+Space then N;
  • Click the Application logo in the Task Bar again;
  • Press Alt+Space then X;
  • Press Alt+Space then R;
  • Press Alt+Space then M;
  • Press any keyboard arrow key;
  • Waggle your mouse around a lot.

Can you see the application window again?

Well I Googled that first to make sure it wasn't going to send you my banking info! But holy cats, that seems to have worked. I guess perhaps Designer was marooned on my second screen even after I switched back to one screen only.

Thank you, GarryP!

You’re welcome.
Yes, it does look like a very strange thing to be doing but it can work wonders sometimes.
(Some of the steps probably aren’t needed, maybe only the last four will do.)
