Photo isn't very responsive with a graphic tab on Windows, possibly a hardware issue?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

I'm new to Affinity photo and I was hoping to use it as my primary digital painting software, until I found today that it does not feel responsive to use. Switching between different tools takes a while before the tool starts working (e.g. switching from eraser to brush takes at least a second or two before the brush starts painting on the canvas).

Could this be a hardware issue? I'm using a Genius Pen Tab i608x, which I know isn't really the best for digital painting (this was just given to me as a gift) and I'm hoping that any Huion or Wacom users aren't experiencing this because I'm planning to buy a graphic tab from either of those brands.

Hi ClioStark,

I don't know anything about Genius Tabs, but I'am using a wacom Intuos and it's working fine. Have you updated your tablet drivers to the actual version? Have you tried the options for tablet input in the preferences? If you are on windows, have you tried to enable/disable wintab in the preferences? These are the things that I would try first but maybe someone else can give more advice.
