Designer - Printing a file to Trotec JobControl sends the correct file plus a blank file with the same name

Recommended Posts

My laser cutter receives its data from the Windows print spooler, printed from Designer. When I print any file from Designer to Trotec JobControl for my laser cutter, Designer correctly prints the file but also sends a completely blank file of the same dimensions to JobControl. I've tried messing with all the settings I could such as "printing only even pages" but I still get the empty file along with the correct file.

If I have a file with multiple artboards and choose to print "Artboards" instead of "Document" as the printed Range in the Designer print dialog, I do not get the blank files in JobControl. If I only have one artboard, I do not get the option to choose "Artboards" as my range, only "Document".

I realize this is a pretty obscure problem, but does anyone have any clues as to why this is happening? I can provide more information as needed.

Hi Elliot,

Welcome to the forums :)

Firstly, we wholehearted suggest that you change your username here, else spammers may harvest your email address. I can manually change your username for you, could you please confirm what you'd like this to be?

Secondly, I'm not at all personally familiar with JobControl, or printing on Trotec Laser cutters, my apologies - but I'll do my best to help!

I can only find one related thread in the forums here, where this issue was raised but unfortunately not resolved.

Interestingly, we usually recommend exporting to EPS with specific settings for use with cutting software (specifically Cricut, as outlined in the below post)

Could you please try creating and exporting an EPS document using these settings, then print the exported document and let me know if this resolves this issue for you?

Many thanks in advance!
