ckdot
Hello, I'm just checking out Affinity Designer and I'm not able to find the saved swatches. This is a screenshot from Adobe Illustrator. I've highlighted a line path and clicked on the button to change the stroke color. Illustrator presents a list of predefined colors... the mint color named "KissCut", another pinkish color with the name "ThruCut". If I open the same document in Affinity Designer and select the line path I'll see this: So it seems like Affinity Designer is able to find the document swatches... It correctly shows the name of the color of the current element ("KissCut"). But where can I find the predefined color "ThruCut"? If I switch to "Swatches tab" I will see this: There's a quite big list of colors without name. So these cannot be the document colors. If I open the dropdown I also don't see any swatch category that would match (like "Document" or similar): So the question is: Where can I find the document swatches - or - how can I change the color of the path to the defined "ThruCut" color without defining it again? Thanks for your help in advance! Christian
Staff Lee D Posted November 18, 2020 Staff Share Posted November 18, 2020 Have you tried exporting the palette to a .ase from Illustrator to import into Affinity Designer seperate from the document?
ckdot
Hey Lee thanks for your answer. No I didn’t. The document is a PDF a client sent to me. Without any other files. So the palette has to be already attached to the document and as Affinity is showing the correct naming of the color („KissCut“) I assume it has the ability to read it out. For now I‘ve got the trial version of Illustrator installed. In a few weeks it will be expired and I‘d not be able to export palettes anymore so I was hoping to find another solution for this (without the need of ex/importing) => client sends me some file with some embedded swatches & I can see them in Affinity Designer without using Illustrator at all. Is this not possible?
