Creating alphas using PNG backgrounds

Recommended Posts

Hello

I'm totally new to Affinity but have been using Serif Draw+, PagePlus and other software for several years.   I'm trying to create an alpha using a png leopard skin file to fill it.   I can't work out how to get my png into "styles" if thats what I need to do.   I figured that I could put my alpha on the background and slice it out.   Does Affinity have a slice function?  I can't find it.   Any help you can give me would be amazing.

Welcome to the Serif Affinity Forums, @Tinkerhamilton. :)

From your description I infer that you mean ‘alpha’ as in lettering, not variable transparency. The mechanics of cropping or clipping in the Affinity apps is slightly different from what you’re used to in DP and PP, so you may find it helpful to watch a tutorial video such as this one.
