Point size and leading overdrive

Recommended Posts

so ive been learning typography with affinity designer and noticed whenever i change the point sizing of my text the leading stays the same, for example if i change the size from 12pt to 24pt the text will be size 24pt but it will be spaced awkwardly because it is still on a 12 size leading overdrive. Also when i try to change the leading overdrive to auto it goes back to 12pt, any ideas?

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

You need to distinguish between the Leading (or Paragraph Leading), which is set in the Context Toolbar and/or in the Paragraph panel) and the Leading Override, which is set in the Character panel and is intended to override the paragraph's leading for a specific line of the paragraph.

Initially I suggest you leave the Override (in the Character panel) alone, and set it to (Auto), and focus on the Context Toolbar and the Paragraph panel.
