JustBill
Greetings, I have Affinity Photo on my PC laptop and my ipad. Purchased in April of this year. Everything worked fine for a while. Today I tried to open Affinity Photo on my PC and the cursor would spin a bit and quite. I tried restarting etc. I removed Affinity Photo program with windows and downloaded exe program. Now, every time I click on the exe file the cursor will spin for a couple of seconds and go no further. I deleted/'downloaded several times with not luck. Program works fine on my ipad. Does anyone have any ideas where I should start to be able to install the program and get it running again? I don't mind doing smaller projects on my ipad but like using my pc for larger or longer edits. Thanks much, Bill Edited September 17, 2020 by JustBill
Staff stokerg Posted September 17, 2020 Staff Share Posted September 17, 2020 Hi @JustBill So you are this is happening when you try to run our setup file to install Affinity again? If so, can you please try restarting the PC and then running our setup as Administrator by right clicking on the setup files and selecting Run As Administrator and let me know the results
JustBill
I knew I would forget something. Thanks for the reply, Stokerg. Yes, when I attempt to install and use the run like an Admin I do get the User Account Control asking if I want to let Affinity make changes. When I click yes the cursor spins for maybe 1 or 2 seconds and then nothing. I have tried restarting computer between attempts with no luck. I have also run windows update several times to make sure all is up to speed. Thanks again for the replay. Staff stokerg Posted September 18, 2020 Staff Share Posted September 18, 2020 Hi Bill, What your User Account Control Level set to? If its on the highest setting this may cause some issues, so might be worth setting it to Low and then trying our setup again. I would request the log file but it doesn't sound like the setup is getting to that point, but you'd like to check, call up the Run Box by holding down the Windows Key and tapping the Letter R and in the run box enter: %TEMP%\AffinitySetup\ Then click okay. You should hopefully see a number of folders here, if there's one with yesterday's date on, open it and see if there is a SetupUI.log and if there is, attach it here
JustBill
I gave a try at changing Account Control Level with no success. Here are the setup and setupui files. JustBill
Thought I would tag this thread with what solved my problem with running Affinity Photo and installing Affinity Photo. This was a response I sent to support when they were helping me solve the problem. <<<<<OK. Went back into Color Management. Clicked on Advanced>Device Profile>switched from "scRGB virtual device model profile" to "sRGB IEC 61966-2.1" Just like that, Bob's your uncle. Affinity Photo installed and so far it seems to be working fine. Thank you for taking the time to work with me on resolving this problem. I'm super happy to have Affinity Photo running. Just in time for the fall colors!! Regards, Bill>>>>>> A big thanks to Gareth at Affinity support!!!
