Filling unclosed shape inside an outline [Designer iPad]

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I have been trying to figure something out for the past week, which I think is pretty simple, but I can't seem to find the solution, and I don't know if it's because there isn't one or because I can't use the proper words to find it online. I hope I can get some help here.

In the screenshot attached you'll see I have a layer with a photo and then on top a layer of a vector shape following the outline of the photo, which is a flower. My goal then is to draw more vector lines that will join the outline (like the petals, or the sepal in the attached file). Since the vector line is just a line, not a closed shape, when I try to fill the section the whole shape gets filled instead, and if I try to close the line into a shape, of course it closes like in the attached file, because the vector line starts and finishes in two different places instead of being a closed shape.

I don't know If I have made my problem clear. However, I would appreciate any help, I can't seem to find a way around this issue.

Thank you all!

You can usually resolve these issues by closing the shape and clipping it (drag over and let go when you see blue line) to one of the other layers. If you can’t figure it out attach an afdesign file to post and I will have a look and let you know. 🙂
