JDM Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 This is my page: This is my TOC: This is what I WANT it to look like: How do I make that happen? Thanks, JDM Quote
walt.farrell Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 You can get close: Use a line break after the chapter number on the document page, then Use a character style to change the appearance of the second line. That way both lines are part of the same heading. When creating the TOC there's an option to remove line breaks, which will put both the "Chapter 1" and the chapter title text on the same line in the TOC. However, as far as I know you cannot get the ":" between them, unless you actually put it on the page or edit the TOC manually. [Edit: See below for a variant that lets you have an invisible ":" on the document page that will show up in the TOC.] Simple-TOC.afpub JDM 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. JDM Posted September 6, 2020 Author Posted September 6, 2020 Walt, Wow, such a fast reply. And it works! You must get an alert with every new post. Thanks so much. I gave you a "heart", is that like a "+"? If not tell me how to add to your "reputation". JDM walt.farrell 1 Quote
walt.farrell Posted September 7, 2020 Posted September 7, 2020 You're welcome. (And yes, that's how you "like" a post.) walt.farrell Posted September 7, 2020 Posted September 7, 2020 Also, here's an approach that lets you have the ":" in the TOC. On page 3 (Chapter 2) I put an "invisible" colon. The title is "Chapter 2:" but in the Character panel I set the color of the ":" to none. (You could also use the Context Toolbar, of course.) I'm not sure who first mentioned that technique, that I had forgotten when composing the earlier post.
