I've been tasked with extracting a lot of small graphic elements from a set of PDFs. I realise it is going to be a long and tedious task!! What I'm wondering is whether my workflow is optimal or not.

I'm importing the PDF and then working through the layers to find the groups that are to be saved, then I select all the elements, Copy and then New From Clipboard to create a new document, then Export as PNG.

This has been working reasonably well - although a little soul destroying.

The problem I've encountered it that occasionally I find that the copied items don't generate a new document that is snug to the edges of the visible elements. Sometimes there is a margin around one of the objects that creates a transparent edge on one or more sides of the whole document and I then have to process it a second time to remove that margin. At first I thought this might be due to masked content extending outside of the expected visible area but that is not the case.

Does anyone know why this margin might be there and is there a quicker way of cropping the document to the visible content?

p.s. I'm getting a -200 error and Upload Failed when trying to attach examples of the files.
