BjörnRydén Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 Hi! I am an admitted AP noob, but from what I have seen so far the RAW files that I open are alot more grainy/noisy (don't know if that is the correct word) than for example Photoshop. In some cases I have a really hard time getting a good result when from Photoshop it is a breeze with alot less tinkering. Skin tones especially gets pretty sharp edges between "shades" on higher ISOs when in Photoshop it is alot smoother. Now I know Photoshop does some noise reduction as standard but even when I tinker with that (which makes the processes alot slower since it seems to take quite a bit CPU power, at least on my retina mbp) it just is hard to get a similar result. So, what I am asking is if this is something you are aware of or if it is something I am doing wrong? It is files from a Canon EOS 550D by the way. Quote
Staff Lee D Posted August 11, 2015 Staff Posted August 11, 2015 Hi BjörnRydén, I'd recommend having a look at this video tutorial we have on Raw Noise Reduction as Photo doesn't apply noise reduction automatically. Thanks Quote
