Using Stock Illustrator transparency

Hi there

I’ve downloaded an illustrator transparency of a flame from adobe stock, but when I place it in to affinity photo or designer, the black and grey checkerboard background is still in the image. How do I remove this background to use the transparent element in affinity photo/designer on iPad Pro?
