Dear Forum

I have a serious problem with my affinity publisher and I cannot find a solution.

I created a table (a few rows, not big) in my book and wanted to shift the table around. Suddenly the table seems to be stuck inside the text frame and between pages, in which it was placed, and it is not possible to move it anymore. The handles are gone and even the table manager doesn’t show properties of this table. There were the handles of the frame have been are now just little blue crosses. I cannot touch or move it with the table tool, the picture frame tool, or any of the arrow tools. Strangely I can change the text within the table easily. rebooting doesn’t not work, and the internet cannot supply an answer for this strange behaviour. I cannot even erase the table, which means the whole document is damaged…

What happened ?

 Please help.

The blue cross just indicates the table is locked which is why you are having trouble doing anything with it

There is a way to get a table in this state if it was pinned into a text frame from the master page but impossible to tell you exactly why your table is locked without seeing the document.

If it is shown in the Layers panel as being a child of a Master Layer you can use the Edit Detached function to move it out of the Master page Layer and it will be unlocked again

If you can't figure it out just upload the document it should be a simple fix

To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.
