Publisher crashing in Mac OS Catalina

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm having trouble with Publisher repeatedly crashing. Using a newer iMac, Catalina.

Everything worked fine for about 2 wks, then I started having difficulty getting the "Text" tool to work when I went back through to spot edit. It would activate the text frame but not allow me to edit the actual text. The cursor would be stuck center top of frame and the layer panel would jump to a different layer. My doc is a little long (160~ pages, barely any images yet). I thought the length might be an issue as I initially c/p as one long text block instead of dividing into chapters. Tried to c/p to create smaller chapter documents to later string together to start fresh, and now I get a repeated crash. It either happens when I click the text tool, or when I click on the new document to paste. If the text tool does not initially engage, it doesn't seem to happen. It's hard to pin down exactly which actions are causing it, but it's happening repeatedly, multiple documents.

Thanks for any suggestions~

Thanks!

I'm attaching a recording of a crash, behavior is slightly different than I described yesterday... now it seems to be happening when I click out of a text box. Haven't quite found the pattern yet. But I was able to work successfully for a while.

I did figure out the issue regarding the Text tool – I had set up Master Pages A & B, and B was inadvertently duplicating the text boxes of A so I couldn't click within them in the document unless I specifically chose that layer *before* choosing the tool. It would automatically default to the blank text box on top. Not sure if that was part of the c/p crash I was getting? This doc may still have the duplicate Master issue.
