Futuristik Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 This is a rather interesting conundrum. I was working on a design. I pinch to zoom in and pan across the artboard, when I suddenly end up in a grey field. I spend a bit of time zooming in and out to try and find my artboards to no avail. I decide to place a shape to figure out where I am. When I look in the Transform panel, its X and Y values are somewhere in the negative millions! I went and closed the app to look up my problem and see if there was a way to get back on track. When there's no success, I reopen Designer and notice the file's size is now "18347694x217...."px. It seems, due to the shape I placed far away, the file is now enormous, taking up nearly 1GB on its own. Attempting to open, save, duplicate, or even close the file results in Designer crashing. I'd love to get my storage space back while preserving the work in my file. Quote
Dan C Posted April 5, 2020 Posted April 5, 2020 Hi Futuristik, Welcome to the forums My sincerest apologies for the delayed response, unfortunately due to the current circumstances our response time is longer than normal. We're working hard to keep on top of things, so many thanks for your patience and understanding here. I'm very sorry to hear this has happened, I'd like to try and recover this document for you, however this will likely require connecting your iPad to a computer to access the hidden files. Is this something you can do, or do you only have access to your iPad? If it were possible to open the document on your iPad I suspect you could recover it by scrubbing back through the history, however it sounds as though you can't open the document currently - my sincerest apologies for any inconveniences caused here. Thank you for your time, Dan. Yes, I have access to a computer and iTunes. How would I go about recovering the file? Quote
Dan C Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 Thanks for confirming that, iMazing is a free app that can be used to access the hidden files on your iPad, please follow the instructions provided by Sean in the below post - Please note, you'll need to use .afdesign as the file-type, not .afphoto as is used in the example.
