Publisher file opens as image

I am trying to load an affinity file and it keeps coming in as an Image not text.  Whats up?

First, for future reference, you're asking a question. It should be posted in the Questions forum, not the Tutorials forum.   (Perhaps a moderator will move this thread.)

We'll probably need more information. What kind of file are you loading? .afphoto, .afdesign, .afpub?

What do you mean by "loading"? File > Open, or File > Place, or something else?

Can you give us a screenshot of the problem, or give us the file to examine?

Thanks for the screenshot. Could we see the Layers studio panel, too, please? (Sorry for not thinking of that before.)

 

Without the actual file, my best guess at this point is that you did something like this:

1. Worked on the file.
2. Used File > Export and used one of the image presets (JPG, TIFF, PNG).
3. Pressed Export and then in the File Explorere dialog that came up to save the file, specified the name: email letter 3-25.afpub

If you do that, you will get an image file but Publisher (and other Affinity applications) will not append the filetype suffix, so it will be named as a .afpub file but will actually be a JPG, TIFF, or PNG file inside.

Yes Walt, That is what I think I did. I just copied the text from another file and pasted it into a new document and it works. Wow, I thought I was losing my mind! Thanks for your help. Be well!
