Colour Picker in Affinity Photo

Recommended Posts

My color picker in Affinity Photo is solid black suddenly. It used to be semi transparent and would show the color you were pointing to, now it is solid black and quite large compared to previous use. I have reset Affinity twice in an attempt to restore factory settings and that did not help.

If I create a gradient map using colors from another photo for my swatches, the color picker from the gradient map box is solid black and will not display the color changes.

I would appreciate any fixes.

Thanks,

When you say "color picker" it's not clear what you're referring to. There are:

  • The Color Picker Tool (eyedropper in the Tools panel), which is not what you're using as you have the Selection Brush Tool active in that screenshot.
  • The eyedropper in the Color or Swatches panels.
  • The eyedropper in the color panel that you'd get if you clicked in that Colour well in the Gradient Map Adjustment panel.

From your next reference to the color picker in the gradient map box I think you probably mean the third one I listed, but it would be good to know for sure.

Are you saying this only happens if you use colors from another photo, and not the standard gradient map colors from your screenshot?

Can you capture a video of this happening, to show us? Can you share a sample .afphoto file?
